Listened to this great album by the Avalanches for the first time in age last night. There are some quality samples in this track including Stool Pigeon.
There is a sign that catches my peripheral driving vision several times per week on the way home on the main road slightly north of where we live. It reads:
"The Old School"
and it is a metal picture of an old fashioned mortar board and cape wearing School Master chasing two small charges with a thin wooden stick outstretched in front of him.

Often when I see it it makes me think that when it was considered okay for teachers to hit children with sticks some people would have been saying that that was crazy. And, with a broad perspective on human history, it is really not that long ago. And, as a logical consequence, it is not impossible that some of what goes on in schools now might be crazy too. I often recall the outrage of Danny's father in Dahl's "Danny Champion of the World" which was written in the age of the motor car when he discovered his son had been whacked with a ruler.
In the future we might look back at uncontrolled crying (when was the last time you cried in a controlled way?) and the naughty step and reflect if, at the time, there will be people who thought that was crazy too. And I will say "Yes." "Me"
TDO returned home last night. There were more hama beads including another back to front episode! What was that about learning from mistakes? We watched "Up". And E and I talked about this cool coin pattern I spotted on twitter as well as reading, at his suggestion, the second Puddle Lane. Am considering 'money' as a loose project theme to explore.
In bed, singing "Ten Green Bottles" to O, we get to six and O pipes up
"You know Mum they are going to need some better hooks!"
Today has seen TDO and E collect the bread from the village with E acquiring another scooter tumble related bruise on route. For most of the day we have had S's BFF and her family, including a gorgeous 7 week old, here for a yummy bespoke lunch that included home made pesto sauce, bolognaise sauce, pear crumble and lime cheesecake all crafted by my own fair hand. Breastfeeding Mums are always hungry :) During lunch I managed to sit on a chair that contained a complete spilled drink.
The girls got a little carried away with the make up and drew on faces with felt pens! Argh!! What where they thinking?
I'm rubbish at photographing lego but E make this cool knights jousting with audience from his lego chess set.
Furnando picks a new range rover!

If you want to explore 'money' take the Trio up to the Bank of England museum- worth a visit x
Funny I was looking at that yesterday

I have been a few times for evening corporate party type events but 10 years ago or so now.
S is keen to go to the new exhibition at the Museum of Childhood so I was thinking of planning some sort of East London day in the next week or so.
