We have gallivanted right across West Sussex today and had a great home education day.
First stop was right by the sea for some rocks in Worthing. A nearby family had posted up on the local home education facebook group to say they were finished with some trays of rocks and I thought S & E would be keen to have a look, coincidentally I had been considering some geology themes for our next strewing project so the timing was perfect, we headed over that way to collect them. They are thrilled with them and no doubt they will feature their own post soon. Already asking questions about why so many seem to come from Italy and Madagascar and also that the set contains some garnet which is precious. Nearby is a park called Brooklands that the trio adore but sadly the mizzle turned to drizzle and we decided it would be just all too slippy.
Then over to Barnham to see some of our longest local home ed standing friends who had tweeted the need for maternity clothes. We were able to a oblige dropping off a bag full and in exchange they allowed us to tag along to their planned afternoon out at Lordington Lavender Farm. A brilliant spontaneous afternoon out, we had planned to head to soft play. With the wipers on full speed for the journey there I doubted the success but need not have, the clouds parted as we arrived leaving us with a clear hour to enjoy the farm.
If you are going to go to a Lavender Farm a friend with purple hair is the one to go with for photo opportunities. It was really brilliant. Great for the trio to see the wide variety of ways people earn an income in 2012. The smell was glorious and the butterflies an bees an education. :)
In Other News
Grandma was here this morning and played word game with E for ages, great for him to see another perspective
On our various drives today we have had some great chats, about subjects such as what rope is made of and how S will definitely be married to have children so she can home educate them and not have to work, we talked about plurals of words
Lordington is open until Sunday well worth a visit and at £2.50 for me and free for the trio July's operation save is still on track.
Giving away my last remaining maternity clothes and O progressing into the next level of car seat have given today a "this too will pass" (& pass all to quickly) sort of feel to it.
Picked some of the lavender from our own garden when we arrived home - been talking about it's various healing and sleep inducing properties. S is filing it all away in the boxes in her head with her latest herb knowledge from the allotment.
Feeling happy and secure with my steering of the home ed ship today not allowing us to be blown too far off track and This is How We Do - Autonomous Learning 2012 style

We're off to Lordington Lavender next week with the local home ed group, looks fab! xXx
You'll like it - I have some of their mud here you could take back!!
Manage to resist all of the amazing looking cakes and treats today - not sure how. S is keen to make a lavender wreath like the ones they had there.
Have a great time. It is really really close to Uppark (National Trust) if you wanted to make the journey once.
Love Lordington, it is right by our house! Hopefully we will get there this week. Hope I can post successfully, all my previous posts have failed!
Your post has worked! Hooray.
