Eleven years ago TDO (The Daddy One) & I had been together for just about one year. We were the guests of corporate hospitality, we drove to Goodwood from London in our brand new Audi TT roadster two seater with the top down, on arrival we reclined behind the hay bales, isolated from the general public, on comfy chairs watching the racing cars whizz by. We'd had very few opportunities to drive the new car outside of the city and it seemed very countryside to us. I have three memories of that day (One) the bar staff telling me that champagne was £7 per glass or free by the bottle (you can guess which option I took) (two) remarking to TDO that the man standing by me looked like a grey haired Damon Hill before I realised it was and (three) The Wacky Racers.
Today, 11 years on we arrived from where we live now, just down the road really, no longer in London in our 8 seater caravelle, I overheard someone at the caravelle stand enquie as to whether you need an HGC licence to drive one?!? With our three children (7, 5, & 3) Not only have we grown bigger but so has the Festival of Speed. The few marquees I recall from 2001 replaced with fabulous inflatable structures, wigwams and full on proper buildings with carpets and lighting. Very impressive.
Today I dealt with nose bleeds and the usual round of Mum stuff but we have had a great day. Who knew?
We also saw the 1000 mph car which is hoping to break the land speed record once held by Bluebird that the trio so enjoyed at Brooklands a few weeks back and the great sculpture outside the house will no doubt be at Cass for us to enjoy in the near future.

Looks like a great day out x
Summer colds, pollen thing I think. Plus once you've had a nosebleed it is very easy to have another!
