Tell Me a Tale iii

We have gallivanted the short distance to Cass Sculpture Foundation today. Our first visit for a couple of years. As fabulous as I recall. Took a while for the mood  to recalibrate this morning with such different sleep cycles in place at the moment. E, 5, had already been awake for 4 hours by the time we left and  S, 7,  was in an anxious mood. We got there! Cass is set in such a gorgeous woodland and, even aside from the amazing sculptures, has breathtaking views right down to the coast and would be a pleasant stand alone walk.

Interestingly the cheapest, yours for £38,000, and the most expensive, a cool £1,500,000, sculptures were both in my top five.

I also enjoyed "Gate" by Rob Ward even if it did show me that the back of my head is populated by more grey hairs than I had realised.

 Folly - through the trees

S & E thought this sleeping guy was a little spooky.

I Miss You - or the giant jar of nutella as we called it :)

Stairway
Tongue in Cheek
The strong winds blew down 4 trees yesterday one of which narrowly missed this.
 Sun and Moon
 Ace of Diamonds
 Gate

 Open  Book
Pavilion - by the guy that designed East Beach Cafe in Littlehampton

 Return
 Sun's Roots II

The children's work~sheets were great but could have benefited from a clipboard or hard surface to rest on.

 This was really rather bizzare

Regular readers will know E is very drawn to outdoor art and this was perfect for him, a blend of Ewok Forest and epic scale sculptures. We have joined and so will be returning.

On the way home S and TDO went to watch sheep shearing at Gaston Farm and the boys and I found a cool little park nearby.

Ken is a hit with the chicks

See you next Saturday.

You would be most welcome to come with us. Family membership is 2 adults and 4 children so that would be cool. S loves your blog and is so keen to meet Hannah.

It says on our membership card "Thanks for supporting Cass Sculpture Foundation This card admits you and a partner or friend and up to four children to visit the foundation without charge during the 2012 season Why aren't all memberships so flexible?

Oh Katie, that would be awesome, thank you :-) Dean has two weeks off in July and will be able to drive us to places so maybe we could meet up then? He'll be happy to hang out at the car with his kindle :-)
That is a great membership deal!!

What a great venue to take the kids Katie. We had a sculpture park we used to go to but nothing on this scale! People don't realise how valuable experiences like this are for kids' learning and development. Have a good day. x

Great photos! We have a sculpture park near us that is free apart from £4 parking charge. If you remember from this post http://barrasschoolofexcellence.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/yorkshire-sculpture-park-look-but-dont.html?m=1
I had a bad day there the last time we visited! Maybe I should try again.....
Something quite magical about outside art
