So to continue the canvas theme from yesterday's post, apparently,
when canvas was scarce long ago artists would often re~cycle it and I
guess that it kind of what we do! Here is what has been covering the
floors today this bank holiday Monday - don't let the use of the word
holiday fool you there though. E was up at 5am and O shortly after. Me & TDO are pretty tired as a consequence.
We
are hosting one of the home education monthly adults evening socials at our house
tonight. S has made one of her now legendary tiramisus and Charlotte Rochez is coming along.
On
Friday we cleared a cupboard of "baby" toys for our friends we met at
the zoo - along the way we found a few things that O, 3, has been having
much fun with. There has been (well still is) a whole day of back to back Horrible Histories on CBBC today which has rather absorbed S
jigsaw puzzles
E made a blue lego army that looked pretty cool til his baby brother got hold of it
O loves this wooden ABC puzzle - It is made by a French company so has Q for quilt not Queen!
S did some backwards and upside down spy code writing on the mega sketcher. It says "To Dad, Can you pat your tummy and rub your head?"

Major duplo action. Duplo is like junior lego but the trio still enjoy it.

We still love Duplo too. Cupcake struggles a bit with the smaller LEGO whereas she can do Duplo alone.
I have a theory that just like boys often come later to reading and writing that girls come later to some aspects of designing and constructing. It seems so sad to me that many girls don't have construction sets (no brothers? no construction set!).
I'm convinced that keeping your Duplo for longer is essential for girls (it certainly seems more girl friendly in some ways - so many animals and people!). But I guess so many folk just follow the age guidelines and get rid of certain toys at the end of particular 'stages'.
Although we do declutter every so often some things never seem to get grown out of around here! Duplo is one of them.
Yes, I agree - I really see that having two boys and a girl - it works the other way too.
Duplo is great for building big things quickly imo.
