Hello Sunday, Hello Road

When I first started keeping this blog, 16 months, several hundred songs and 68,500 pages views(!?) ago I considered tidying up before taking photos of us at home on non-gallivanting days. Of course I never did, it became pretty obvious that if that was the plan then (a) the photos would never be taken and (b) they wouldn't be an accurate reflection of what life is like as a home educated family so, I snapped away anyway and am so pleased I did.

If you have a fresh from the pages of Homes and Gardens dwelling and are considering home education it is probably only fair to share with you a more honest appraisal of how your home will transform. When you are rolling out pizza dough and you notice a slight sparkle because the previous occupant of the flat horizontal surface was busy getting creative with glitter you know you've arrived in home ed land.

And so it was on google+ earlier in the week when I saw the phrase "Canvas of your day" to describe the scene in homes like ours and it instantly filled me with positivity about all that it is that we do nurturing young talents.

This is a horse called "Arabian Night" that S, 7, painted today
 and a cat
Boys on wheels in the garden
 Rain drops on bronze fennel

S and TDO had a painting competition today. S chose horses and cats with landscapes to follow later.

Following jiggle and rhyme time we've been singing again and even had the instruments out.

Dressing E in red, white and blue today was a total accident! We are more of the republican tendency in our household. S is very interested in royal history and enjoyed seeing some of the cast of Horrible Histories along the banks of the Thames on TV but the pace of the pageant was very slow and it is fair to say the world BMX championships was more popular.
S wants to turn her room into a jungle today, cue artificial grass for the animals who were later arranged on the sofa watching Horrible Histories on iplayer on the phone! (which to scale must have been like a cinema!)

Lego Ninjago, Star Wars and Cars in action in the lego room.

In Other News

  • TDO spent a couple of hours at the allotment this morning.
  • We accidentally fell asleep reading bedtime stories last night meaning a half finished shopping order will be arriving pretty soon.
