This is How We Do It iii

Well, there was a 5 in the start time this morning but it would have rounded to six so didn't seem too bad. A slight change in sleeping arrangements seem to have worked. We have been for our second visit to Petworth House this very sunny day using our new National Trust membership. Spent two hours this morning doing the spaniel trail and looking at globe from the 1500s (which obviously had some countries missing and monsters in the sea!) plus dressing up and a knockout ceiling painting which we missed on our first trip. Overheard a tour guide say Turner had a studio at Petworth. Outside, where the floral perfume was overwhelming in places, we had a glorious sunny picnic. Looking at the photos of Petworth House from the perspective of my many American readers I guess this is what England has. History. On my visits to the US it is the newness of everything, architecture wise, that really struck me.

After Petworth we made the short drive to Cocking to visit some home ed friends we haven't seen since last year and spent a couple of hours in their garden. The children played brilliantly and E was THRILLED to discover they have the vintage playmobil Indians (Native Americans) he so covets and even more when they kindly said he could borrow some.

Last night I spent a while in the kitchen getting ahead of the curve and it felt comforting today so I'm off to do it all again.

You are allowed at Petworth so long as no flash - it was busy though so I had to leave out the ones with strangers in!!

Thanks so much for the tip-off - We've had our money back already!!
