If you thought there would be early snoozing after London & Fishers Farm day........There were scones (which no one likes so they've gone in the freezer!), fimo inspired by a you tube video E has been watching endlessly of saracens helmets and (more) ginger biscuits. In the video clip they use a US brand of fimo called Sculpey, and when our project didn't work I was googling the differences between the two projects to see if I could find out why! Meanwhile S made these two fimo Sapphires!
We also started this celery re- growing project I had seen on Lightly Enchanted's blog. TDO was keen to give it a try and my Mum said it would probably produce the kind of celery she had when she was a child and so is going to give it a go too.
With a sunny weather forecast in place for today I knew we had to get out for part of the day at least. I know from experience that counter intuitive logic works best here for us and a home day with tired people is a whole lot worse because by 4pm we are all climbing the walls. Best to bag some fresh air early and then recline for the afternoon. We usually go to Fishers Farm with Grandma on a Wednesday morning but O had been yesterday and G'ma is off on holidays so was keen to head off earlier than normal.
We are much much better in the mornings.

I am fed up with the constant banging from the builders next door So.......
off to the Wetlands in Arundel where the staff were really friendly and we saw: swans on their nest, toad spawn tadpoles; moorhen chicks as well as ducklings. We shared the park with a school trip for our lunch and the trio were most bemused to find them saying religious grace in the play area. There were no questions just compliance. No, isn't he engaged or how to they know his phone number like the kind of inquisitiveness that would greet me!
E didn't want to go on the boat ride and S and O did and, given that I am lacking in a stunt double, so the bickering began. S and E had thrown out their bird food by the handful shortly after arriving, O was insisting on dispensing his grain by individual grain and the bigger two were very impatient with him..........
After the wetlands we headed to Barnham park followed by Aldwick's West Park with its very long zip wire. Almost as soon as we arrived at Barnham O filled his nappy so we had to go back to the car to change him everyone put their seat belts on so we headed off to Aldwick!
E was a real pain at the zip wire not sharing and taking turns...but that said before we had even left the house this morning S had thrown a book down the stairs..............
I can tell you all this but it is to ignore the fact that we are having real behavioural issues atm and it is driving me rather nuts. Loosing you temper should not be a daily occurrence. At first I thought we were spending too much time with other people then not enough, too much time indoors and not enough out....it is such a balance spinning plates..i just get one going and the others fall off. Not helped by the school trips that seem to be shadowing us at the moment. The complaint snakes doing as they are told there for all to see but, as my Mum wisely said this morning, the logic of that to the trio is like saying "Eat your lunch there are people in the world who are starving."
We are hoping to revisit the newly refurbished Sealife Centre tomorrow as it is fortnightly cleaner day which obviously means that the house has reached a crescendo of maximum messiness. Still, when it rains again tomorrow I'll be pleased we bagged some fresh air....
Here is our post from last time "Schools are for Fish"

Sorry it sounds like your plate balancing skills are stretched at the moment. We've certainly had some difficult behaviour over this last couple of weeks and being cooped up indoors isn't helping. Here's hoping the weather breaks soon and we can all get out more!
Mind you, these things follow us, don't they? Even so I can bear things much better when it's sunny and *I'm* less likely to get frazzled in the sun even if Cupcake isn't!
It is a dilemma of blogging I think - how truthful to be! The blog has sort of evolved beyond just reasons to home ed and what home ed actually means. It is funny reading back over old posts as this time last year I went through a rough patch too.
I try and be honest about relationships and family dynamics and the issues we face. It would be a rubbish soap opera with no drama!
As I type now the boys are playing brilliantly, really imaginative game been going on for ages but of course this excludes S. It is tricky to get the balance right but I am working on it :)
Oh yes, I started out thinking I'd blog about HE mostly but I just can't stick to one topic - my life is not all nicely carved up into discrete topics and I don't have the discipline/self control to pretend it is! Maybe if we were educationally structured it would flow from that, but as I don't really do 'structure' anywhere in my life at present it's hard to enforce it on line.
As for regular bad patchs, I always struggle around Feb/March time, the double punch of a birthday and late winter invariably get to me.
Yep, balancing the needs of several children must be a real stretch at times - and that's not even adding your own needs to the equation! I must say that I'm mightily impressed you've been sticking with the exercising! Well done on managing to keep at it!
