Why is it when I wake up in the wee small hours blessed with full vision my first thought is "It's a miracle, I'm cured!" rather than "Oh no! I fell asleep with my contact lenses in again."? Another poor quality night's sleep from our youngest member who was ready to play at 4:30am
S has been to a workshop at Pallant House Art Gallery in Chichester today. Regular readers may recall she attended one back in January themed around Edward Burra. Today's was titled "A Cabinet of Curiosities for our Age."
A Cabinet of Curiosities for our Age (8+ years) (Children's Workshops)
Saturday 12th May, 10:15am – 12.15pm
In the18th century collectors kept their treasures or
curiosities in special cabinets. What would you put in your cabinet?
Come and make a miniature cabinet of curiosities and fill it with your
ideas of what would be precious to you.
S was thrilled to discover one of her home educated friends was also attending and according to TDO who attended the workshop with her she wowed the organisers with her knowledge of Roman and Greek Mythological characters, notably the whole story of Orpheus, during the question and answer session at the beginning. So much so that they asked which school she attended! I feel very torn about sharing details of these art workshops on the blog. They are so fabulous and S enjoys them so much I worry if they become too popular that I will be unable to reserve her a space.
The boys and I shopped for new shoes for E. Silver ones that light up! How cool! And we went to Priory Park. Next time I tell you I am headed to a town centre park (especially Priory Park or Horsham Park) with E remind me that it is a bad idea. It was far too busy for him to cope with today and he rather crumbled into little pieces, everyone rushing outdoors to greet the blue sky after what feels like months in the house! So, when we rendezvoused with TDO and Big Small (S) we headed a little out of town to a quieter park to eat our lunch and, for the first time, S travelled the lenght of the monkey bars after yesterday's underwater swimming!
My quads have felt like they have had two metal rods inserted in them today. Seriously stiff after yesterday's gym session. I can only just make it up the stairs!
