Middle Small at Five

Making spiced number biscuits yesterday with his younger brother. Such concentration! Days and numbers the unschooling way! Socks! These are some the words Et knows with out repetition, hesitation or deviation. I guesstimate he recognises 150 words.

For my own records really a bit of what E, 5, is up to at the moment. Despite following the exact same procedures as we did for his elder sister it seems, as yet, he is unknown to the LA and so I have not had to produce a report for him but for my own records a few notes are useful for planning and strewing.

Had E been sent down the state school track he should / would / could have only been there for one term since "legally" you are not required to start school until the term after your 5th birthday which for him would have been January. In reality of course this rarely happens, as only a tiny minority of primary schools in our area allow for staggered entry, and many schools insist on a qualifying reception year to guarantee a place so he would probably be in term six. Thank goodness we live as if school doesn't exist (apart from not going out so much in the holidays!) Six terms ago he was still sleeping for two hours most afternoons. These days it is more of a twenty minute power kip!

Everything for me seems busy at the moment. Several of the bloggers I enjoy are writing great stuff. Lisa with her reasons to home educate series, Ross on Play, Christina on a tidy house and Julia on Society. I only seem to be able to find time to document our days at the moment but in my mind I want to bring together something on socialisation and the family friend balance and ratio.

Completing the Romans sticker book he chose at Fishbourne yesterday. Romans is a favorite topic and has been for a while now.
