Funky Bahia iii

Planting carrot seeds with The Daddy One at the allotment last night S's drawing of her and O in oil pastels.
12 new tennis balls landed on the mat today so I am washing my white puffa jacket before donating them to play!
Fittleworth park this afternoon Few bullets for the past 24 as a little busy.
  • As a result of planting carrot seeds at the allotment last night S and I spent a while googling "What happens if you cut an earth worm in half?"
  • The Daddy One seems to have caught the Lair Defense bug from E!

  • A home morning with S getting very frustrated that her paintings wouldn't turn out right, using oil pastels which haven't been out the cupboard in over a year, making home made pizza dough for lunch and a whole house hoover!
  • Been struck how independent the biggest two are becoming. S made her own pea risotto and chocolate brownies last night. Usually we scale recipes as practical maths but she has found a site that does it! E put a disc film on all by self too. Sadly this is rubbing off on their brother who decided to leave the park on his own this afternoon. Heart stop moment.

  • Read this article int he guardian on Saturday about early puberty and how the average age at which girls start their periods has dropped over the decades. Been reflecting on what this will mean for S. Assuming the fertile period of around 30 years is unchanged I wonder if her generation will have families at a younger age (if at all?)
  • No Grandma today although it is Tuesday, she is having a little holiday, so with Easter bank holidays ahead my gym routine is all a bit out. Spin class at 7pm for me tonight. Getting back on the healthy horse after a weekend off has been very tough today.

I read somewhere long ago (so might need checking) that non organic milk contributes towards early puberty due to the hormones they give the cows to help produce more milk.

That's interesting.

S was breastfed until she self weaned at 3 1/2 and is not a big fan of dairy unless it is vanilla ice cream or Parmesan cheese.

Have to admit that early puberty is something that worries me too. P is already developing much earlier than I did and so C probably will too. Very scary but I think at least whilst all these changes are taking place she is surrounded by people who will help her and not tease about such things. They are both already far more aware and informed than I was at that age and can talk easily to me about questions than I could to my own mum and that can only be a good thing!

Yes, I agree Zoe - certainly memories of being forced into cold showers after PE being told "You are all the same" when, even with clothes on, it was clear we were not can't have helped with the whole body image puberty thing.

I suppose it seems odd because people are living so much longer - childhood should be longer not shorter in that case imo.
