Be Thankful - For what you've got. iii

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. So it goes, S, 7, was a bit under par as often happens to her following a period of high excitement. Between watching "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus", the journey home (during which the boys fell asleep so they were up till well into the evening, in fact, we all went to bed together!) and the first episode of the brilliant new series of CBBC's Horrible Histories there didn't seem to be time. In various combinations we played a wide variety of games at Grandma and Grandie's - S is very keen on the card game "Beat your neighbor out of doors."

The Daddy One had a health check this morning and whilst he was out S was very keen to make him a fimo Captain Caveman and personalized home made wrapping paper. Whilst she did this E and O played toy soldiers and lego. E, 5, wanted to make a space ship (red, yellow and black) but Fimo is hard for him and I feel the 8+ age guide on the packaging is pretty accurate.

Totally spontaneously this afternoon E asked for help creating a story book, wrote his name across the front page and asked for help writing out a story about lego ninjago and snakes.

Helping to make our first pear crumble of 2012 S de-seeded a vanilla pod using the back of a sharp knife for the first time. I went to the gym at lunch time, am down another kilo (13kg in total now) which I am genuinely staggered about as I have pretty much resumed eating and drinking "normally" over Easter.......... It was heaving, the car park was really busy, so much so that there were at least 10 cars older than mine parked up! and next to the crew of personal plate Range Rovers there was the discussion about how their neighbors have a gym in the house / garden. To be satisfied with who you are and what you have is a skill of contentment indeed and the inspiration for today's title song.

Whereas me you see, I have been hanging out with toddlers for too long (pretty much 5 years non stop!) because I stopped to have a closer look at a really interesting stone, with a sort of crystallite inside, that I noticed on the ground. In fact I even bought it home to show Et!! Half a decade of life at a slow low level....You can take the Mum away from home ed but........

E knocked his special K over this morning and straight away said "Mum, can you help me plug in the hoover?"

S is much improved this afternoon. Hard to imagine she is the same rattling wheezy child who was coughing so much she said

"Mum, when I was reading Shakespeare Richard the third it said he coughed up red then dropped down dead." I am pretty certain I didn't know who Shakespeare was when I was 7.

As nappy wearing breastfed o,2, approaches three the inevitable reflections begin. S, now 7, finished the Ladybird Peter and Jane reading scheme days after O was born and so has been an independent reader for 3 years this month. E knows that he did not have side when O was born (he was 2.5 then) and is asking why O still does.............

Found time to squeeze in these bullets as the boys have gone to the allotment with The Daddy One who is off til Monday :)
