Charades

I didn't blog on Friday night and am flattered, if that is the right word, that several people noticed. So before I tackle the conference from today I best sum up Friday.
We woke late and had planned a mooch to the local library and park before heading over to Grandma and Grandie's in the afternoon but it rained every time we thought about heading out so we never really got going but we did have the most amazing game of "charades."
We have sort of adapted the principle of charades in our family, when the smalls were really small we would act out an animal or story book character but now it has evolved on to not movies but specific scenes from movies. Middle Small, who is 4, did an amazing scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as Ronald Weasley's Howler from his mother. Baby Small did "Substitutiary locomotion" from Bedknobs and Broomsticks and, instead of tidying up and getting ready to go out, we played for an hour.
In the afternoon we drove over to Grandma & Grandie's where S: set up a hairdressers. She wrote out a sign and walked around to advertise it to us and styled everyone's hair, she also organised a cafe and did some knitting and some sewing with Grandma. It is great to see S writing like this because there is a need and because she wants to. I asked her how she knew how to spell the word hairdressers and she said "Because I have seen the one in our village."
S & Grandma made a whole knitted outfit for Barbie which they finished off whilst we were at the conference today.
Baby Small played with the haba marble run that we haven't had out for ages and ages. He loved it and really enjoyed exploring each of the component wooden parts before setting up a run.
Middle Small helped Grandie wash the car.

Thanks Lisa - I think Barbie does too! I'll tell S in the morning. Really satisfying to make "something." My Mum is a superstar at: knitting, sewing & crochet.

When I was little, my granny crocheted outfits for my Tiny Tears doll--at least two of them, because the doll is still wearing halves of two different outfits.
