Managed the full compliment of 8 hours last night :-) But not before Middle Small wanted to do some, late evening, Peter & Jane. We are slowly re-working through 3A and I always wait for him to come and ask to do it. We read about 4 pages last night when he went very silent but was then saying the words that were further down the page. "I am reading it Mum, I am just reading it inside my head." When Big Small was doing P&J back in 08/09 I remember really worrying if she would be able to read in her head having learned to read aloud and I also recall reading that learning to read out loud is very difficult for the human brain as it is a combination of several skills simultaneously i.e recognizing the letters and the word and then saying it out loud whilst working on the next word so there is no gap in the reading.
We might to do some post-it note word game today, shake things up a bit, but for now the Big Smalls have gone swimming with Grandma, great to go when the local pool is very empty. We are so counter cyclical!
Am really enjoying these lovely flowers my friend bought me. Thank-You x x

Oh i remember those books from when i was little! I loved them and wanted to do them with Hannah but she liked her Bob Books better !!
You have to go with what works don't you Susie! Some of ours are really old, originals from the 60's but I am aware that whole word recognition is very very unfashionable in schools - I wrote about how S learnt using them on this post http://thegallivanters.blogspot.com/2011/04/change-makes-you-wanna-hustle.html
